Every summer the peaceful town Bayreuth transforms itself into the Mecca of the musically enthused and the international jet-set; it welcomes streams of several ten-thousand tourists, musically interested people and, of course, Richard-Wagner-fans. During the season 2001 the already second part of an interesting project was introduced in this so important place for the music: the Magic of Amazônia. The baritone Renato Mismetti and the pianist Maximiliano de Brito performed in this wonderful, maybe even the most beautiful opera house in the world, which has almost completely sustained its Rococo architecture, built in the mid 1700s by the Markgravine Wilhelmine von Brandenburg-Bayreuth. The two artists present an almost complete Brazilian program.

Almost – that could sound strange without the knowledge of the context. Already the first part of the project Poetry&Music which was presented  in the same place in 2000 introduced as a world première in the same program next to the traditional Brazilian art-song repertoire the connection between the compositions of Brazilian composers with European lyrics as well as Brazilian lyrics with European composers. The fundamental idea is to have a close and creatively fruitful contact between the cultures of countries that are geographically so far apart. The year 2001 brought on the continuation of this project, the title

Brazilian Sounds makes reference equally to the music as well as to the language – Brazilian culture is present in every contribution of the program.

Renato Mismetti, a few years ago scholarship holder of the Richard-Wagner-Organisation, gave a master class together with Maximiliano de Brito on interpretation of the Brazilian art-song at the International Youth-Festival in 1994. This master class has historical significance because for the first time this art-genre was put into the lime-light of  an international festival which took place in Europe. At the same time it was the foundation of the stable reputation of the duo as Ambassadors of Brazilian Culture.
